Behind the name

ΣΤΥΛ / στυλ  GREEK SPELLING
STYL DEFINITION  STYLE IN GREEK
STYL PRONUNCIATION  STILL

STYL means style in Greek – a connection back to our founder’s heritage.

When choosing a name for our brand, it felt really important. We are not exaggerating when we say it took us months. Brainstorms, word-dumps, name generators - you name it, we did it.

We feel a name carries more meaning than a tag on the collar. It represents who we are at our core and helps define the principals of the community we are building for women. So when we landed on STYL Wardrobe, it finally felt right.

We tried to explain why we thought style and in turn STYL, was the perfect fit. But we felt these style icons illustrated it perfectly.

Style is something each of us already has, all we need to do is find it.

— Diane von Furstenberg

Fashion fades, style is eternal.

— Yves Saint Laurent

Style is very personal. It has nothing to do with fashion. Fashion is over quickly. Style is forever.

Ralph Lauren

The key to style is learning who you are, which takes years. There's no how-to road map to style. It's about self expression and, above all, attitude.

— Iris Apfel

Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.

— Oscar de la Renta

You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It’s a way of life. Without it, you’re nobody. I’m not talking about lots of clothes.

— Diana Vreeland
