We believe having environmentally friendly packaging is a non-negotiable, as packaging can often be the greatest source of waste in a business. Below we outline all packaging used throughout our business, right from our manufacturer to our customer.
From the Manufacturer -
When products are sent from a manufacturer, they are individually wrapped to protect each garment and meet industry standards. This is often a hidden, but extremely large and wasteful use of plastic. We ensure that our manufacturer uses recyclable bags, to reduce our impact of waste in the shipping process.
Tissue Paper -
When we ship our garment to our customers, we firstly wrap the garment in tissue paper which is acid free and recyclable. We purchase this from an Australian business Pack Queen.
Branded Sticker -
We seal this with a branded sticker from No Issue Co. These stickers also use acid-free paper and soy-based ink. Soy inks are a renewable resource which involve no chemicals. Ink is normally made with petroleum which is harsh on our environment and uses toxic chemicals. No Issue Co. stickers also use a non-toxic adhesive, meaning the stickers are fully compostable and recyclable.
Thank You Card -
We then place a thank you card with your garment which is made from paper and is also recyclable.
Postage Box -
If you order a large item or multiple items, your garment will be placed in a high quality shipping box which is also supplied by Pack Queen. These boxes are manufactured in Australia and are made up of 80% post-consumer recycled materials. We encourage you to repurpose it when possible.
Mailer -
Lastly, the package is placed in a shipping mailer which we source from either Hero Packaging or The Better Packaging Co. These mailers are made from PBAT (a co-polymer that is completely compostable) and PLA (corn starch), meaning they are 100% home compostable and will leave no waste behind.
There are still elements in our packaging we wish to improve upon. The first being our garment swing tags which are assembled using a small piece of plastic. We are working on making this a completely recyclable element using no plastic.
The second being our shipping labels. We currently use shipping labels that are not compostable, and this is something we also want to change.
